Welcome

Welcome to the Northern Youth Football League. The NYFL was founded in 2005 and was created with a “KIDS FIRST” philosophy to promote youth Cheerleading and Football. The league currently has 8 franchises with some fielding multiple squads.

Member franchises currently include the Clarkston Chiefs, Davison Cardinals, Lake Orion Dragons, Lapeer Jr. Lightning, Oxford Jr. Wildcats, Utica-Shelby Rebels and the Stoney Creek Jr. Cougars.

Philosophy

The focus being on community, the NYFL has the support of local school districts and/or governments and plays at some of the best facilities with five of the eight franchises playing on Field Turf. This is the same playing surface that the Detroit Lions and University of Michigan use.

All facilities have concessions and proper amenities.

Why Join NYFL?

Physical Activity: Youth football leagues encourage regular physical activity, helping children stay active and healthy. Football is a sport that promotes cardiovascular health, strength, and coordination.

Teamwork: Football is a team sport that teaches children the importance of working together to achieve common goals. Players learn to collaborate, communicate, and trust their teammates, skills that are valuable both on and off the field.

Discipline: Football requires discipline in terms of regular practice, following rules, and maintaining good sportsmanship. These habits can translate into other areas of life, including academics and personal relationships.
